HappyEvent Lab was born in 2018 from a simple observation: traditional events had lost their spark. Founders Marina Hoffmann and David Chen, both experienced event professionals in Berlin, noticed that gatherings had become predictable and formulaic. They envisioned a different approach, one that would treat every event as an opportunity for creative experimentation and genuine human connection.
Starting with a small experimental workshop in a repurposed warehouse in Kreuzberg, they invited fifty curious participants to experience what they called participatory event design. The response was overwhelming. Attendees didn't just enjoy the experience; they were transformed by it. Word spread quickly through Berlin's creative community, and soon HappyEvent Lab was receiving requests from across Germany.
What began as a passion project evolved into a movement. Today, we work with corporations, cultural institutions, community organizations, and individuals who share our belief that events should be more than gatherings. They should be catalysts for joy, creativity, and meaningful connection. Our team has grown to include designers, facilitators, artists, and innovators, all united by a commitment to pushing boundaries and creating experiences that resonate long after they conclude.
Every project we undertake is treated as a unique creative challenge. We don't believe in cookie-cutter solutions or recycled formats. Instead, we collaborate closely with our clients to understand their vision, then design custom experiences that surprise, delight, and inspire. This approach has led us to work on projects ranging from intimate workshops to large-scale festivals, each one a testament to the power of creative experimentation.
